ABOUT

Hello and welcome to S P Hypnotherapy. 

 

I'm Phil Stone, based in Herne Bay, Kent and I am a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist. I can help you with weight loss, anxiety,  sports performance and relaxation through hypnosis.

 

The word Hypnosis is derived from Hypnos, the Greek God of sleep. This is slightly misleading however as you do not sleep, you are just deeply relaxed but still fully in control. This leads to the term "Hypnotherapy" which can possibly be better defined as "positive change through relaxation". This is achieved essentially through guided daydreaming. Therefore, if you choose to benefit from a hypnotherapy session you will be awake but relaxed, totally in control and experience a natural, positive change.

 

Hypnotherapy is a safe, effective and painless method of bringing about a positive therapeutic change by enabling you to change your own mind and the way you think.

WEIGHT LOSS

There are 3 main factors involved in losing weight and maintaining that weight loss.

 

1. Eating the right food in the correct quantities.

2. Exercising appropriately.

3. A positive mental attitude.

We all know that to lose weight and then maintain that weight loss you need to eat a healthy diet and exercise. A positive mental attitude however is just as important.

If the terms "weight loss", "dieting" and "exercise" bring to mind thoughts of hunger and discomfort etc. your chances of success are already reduced due to a negative attitude.

 

Weight gain and failure to manage your weight effectively may be due to one or more underlying issues such as habit, lack of self-esteem or anxiety to name a few.  Until these issues have been addressed you are relying on will-power alone to manage your weight but will-power alone only addresses the symptoms, not the cause.  This can be exhausting and, as stated, often results in failure.

 

The good news is that hypnotherapy can help you address the real reasons as to why you find it difficult to manage your weight, and it can also help to motivate you and change your negative attitude into a positive one.  Your chances of acheiving your goals are therefore increased.

 

If you really want to gain control of your weight you first need to gain control of your mental attitude

ANXIETY

So what is anxiety?

Anxiety can be described as feelings of unease, such as worry, stress, lack of self-confidence, panic or fear. These feelings of unease can range from mild to severe.

Anxiety can affect anyone at any time.  Perhaps fearing the dentist, feeling stressed in your job,  experiencing a panic attack, a lack of self-worth or worrying about exams.

Most people will experience some form of anxiety in their lives.  It's normal.

 

But if you feel anxiety is dominating your life, or part of your life,  hypnotherapy can help change the way you think and therfore reduce or even eliminate the negative impact anxiety can have. 

 

Sometimes we can't change the situation but we can change the way we think about it.

 

Is it time you fought back and gained control?

I mentioned a fear of the dentist earlier.  I specifically mentioned this example as many years ago hypnotherapy helped me overcome my own fear of the dentist. I'm now calm and relaxed when sitting in the waiting room, no more sweaty palms and dreading hearing my name called!

It was this change in myself that ultimately led me to qualifying as a Clinical Hypnotherapist.

SPORTS PERFORMANCE

It's no secret that your mind can affect your performance when it comes to sport or recreational activities.  Everyone recognises that being in the "right frame of mind" is the key to training and performing well, or simply enjoying your sport or activity.

David Beckham, Jack Nicklaus, Jimmy Connors, Kevin McBride and Tiger Woods are just a few of the many sports people who have benefited from hypnotherapy.

Common issues experienced by many include

RELAXATION

Relaxation is an integral part of the whole hypnotherapy process. 

 

However, as a stand-alone therapy, relaxation through hypnosis can be incredibly beneficial to our health in its own right.   Relaxation through hypnosis is fast, deep, powerful and enjoyable.  It can promote feelings of calmness and general well-being,  often needed in busy or stressful times.  It also gives the opportunity to "push the re-set button", helping to prevent the build up of anxiety, stress or other negative issues. 

I therefore offer relaxation sessions (£20 per session) as a one-off, or on a regular basis.

All hypnotherapy sessions are strictly by appointment at my office in Herne Bay.

Weekend and evening appointments may be available.

Prior to making an appointment it's important that we have a short, informal talk on the phone to ensure that hypnotherapy is suitable for your personal situation and that I give you the best possible treatment based on the information you give me.

£60 for initial session (up to 1 1/2 hours)

£25 per follow up session (up to 3/4 hour)

CONDITIONS

 

Clients must be 16 years or older.    Clients who are 16 or 17 must be accompanied by an adult at all times during the session.

Hypnotherapy is not a substitute for a healthy diet, exercise and/or appropriate and realistic instruction, training and practice.  Injuries should be assessed by a Health Professional. I am not qualified to advise on these issues.

 

If you wear contact lenses please bear in mind that your eyes will be closed for a minimum of 1/2 hour therefore it may be preferable to wear glasses for the session.

 

Unfortunately hypnotherapy is not suitable for persons suffering from psychosis, dementia, Alzheimer's disease, certain types of brain damage and those who have low cognitive function.

 

If you are pregnant or suffer from epilepsy, diabetes or asthma, you are advised to speak to your G.P. or Health Professional prior to making an appointment although it's extremely rare that hypnotherapy will not be suitable.

Clients under the influence of mind altering substances (alcohol and/or drugs) are not suitable for a hypnotherapy session.

Please inform me as early as possible if you wish to cancel an appointment as cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will incur the full fee. If you are late for your appointment we will still need to finish at the allotted time.

FAQ

Q.   How does hypnotherapy work?

A.   When the mind is relaxed through hypnosis, the unconscious becomes                 much more receptive to positive suggestion which can then bring about a           change in the way you want to think and behave.

Q.   What does it feel like to be hypnotised?

A.   Everyone experiences hypnosis in different ways but it is often described           as a combination of intense relaxation and daydreaming.  I've lost count of          the number of times my clients have told me they didn't want to open                  their eyes at the end of a session because they were enjoying it so much!

Q.   Will I be in control during the session?

A.   Yes, at all times.  You will be free to open your eyes and leave the room at            any time during the session should you choose to.

 

Q.  Is it safe to drive after a session?

A.  Yes.
